The scenery is usually quite beautiful and it's fun to meet the actual winemaker in these small family owned wineries. The Sierra Foothills is one of my favorite regions. In addition to wine tasting you'll find caving, antique shops, skiing the winter, fishing, water sports, horseback riding, and hiking.
