Editorial Calendar


MODERATION IS FOR MONKS (Mi4M) does not publish an editorial calendar. Remember: we’re dilettantes, so we write about the newest, coolest thing that strikes our fancy. We should probably follow a weekly format like the rest of the sites and email newsletters out there, but we don’t. We just have no idea when the next must-have item will on our desks and require immediate publishing.

Where are we located?

MODERATION IS FOR MONKS (Mi4M) lives in the moment, but our headquarters are in the hills overlooking San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge. Did you think we worked out of a freezing garage in the Valley? Maybe you can hang out on our deck and sample some bubbly.



Advertising Vehicles


All of the advertising that appears on Mi4M needs to be approved by the Mi4M executive board. We know that advertising can be a tough sell these days and we want to make sure it’s a good fit for both our readers and your brand. It just makes better sense. For you and for us. Especially us.

We owe it to our fans to keep the advertising the same quality as the editorial. And even though we’re sorely tempted, but there is no paid editorial.

Ad Specifications

Standard Units:

• 300×250 – Medium Rectangle
• 300×100 – 3:1 Rectangle
• 300×600 – Half Page Ad

Custom Units:

• 960×100 – Footer Takeover

Sponsorships:

• Category Sponsorship – Text only. We list categories (“cars”, “gadgets”, etc.). You may sponsor that category name, so users clicking on that category will be taken to the clickthrough URL you provide.

Email Units

• 160×600 – Wide Skyscraper (no Flash)
• 468×60 – Full Banner (no Flash)
• Text Box

Technical Specifications:

• All banners must be JPG, GIF, animated GIF, or Flash with a static alternate. Flash is not supported in email units. DHTML units are not supported.
• Maximum initial load is 100k. Subsequent loads can be no greater than 2MB and must be polite downloads.
• Flash must be version 9 or lower.
• Rich media ads are supported, but only formats which do not extend beyond their original boundaries (no expandable or floating formats are supported).
• Video units are supported and encouraged.
